Why I Created Becka’s Blue Nomad Retreat

For as long as I can remember, home has never been defined by four walls.

Growing up, our home was a place where family gathered, stories were shared, laughter filled the rooms, and everyone was welcomed to the table. Hospitality wasn’t something we practiced only on special occasions—it was simply how we lived. Food brought people together, and every meal became an opportunity to care for someone else.

As I grew older, that same spirit followed me into my career.

For more than twenty-five years, I have had the privilege of serving others as a caregiver, educator, private chef, and hospitality professional. Whether preparing meals for families, caring for those recovering from illness, teaching children, welcoming guests into my kitchen, or a special event, one truth remained the same:

People are often hungry for much more than food.

They long for peace.

For rest.

For meaningful conversation.

For genuine hospitality.

For a place where they can simply breathe.

Years later, my journey brought me to Morocco. Although Becka’s Blue Nomad was born long before I ever set foot here, Morocco deepened that vision in ways I could never have imagined. The mountains, villages, slower rhythm of life, and remarkable generosity of the people reminded me that hospitality is one of the greatest gifts we can offer another human being.

Most importantly, Allah guided me to Islam—not because of marriage, but because He had been calling my heart for years. That journey transformed the way I understand service, gratitude, simplicity, and the blessing of gathering around a shared table.

This retreat is the natural continuation of that journey.

It is not about escaping life.

It is about slowing down long enough to reconnect with what truly matters.

It is about sharing wholesome meals prepared with care, meaningful conversations, beautiful landscapes, laughter, reflection, and genuine hospitality.

It is a place where strangers can become friends, where cultures can meet with mutual respect, and where every guest is welcomed as though they have come home.

Whether you join us for a shared meal, a cooking experience, a cultural journey, or a peaceful. retreat in the beautiful landscapes of Morocco, my hope is that you leave feeling nourished—not only physically, but emotionally and spiritually as well.

Welcome to Becka’s Blue Nomad.

Not just a name,

but a way of life.

Welcome home.
